Who cares about the Sonics? Why is it such a heated controversy? Let them go to Oklahoma City, and let the rest of Seattle society get on with life. But no...let's churn and waste MORE tax payers money on this and drag it out forever in typical Seattle / King County political fashion. Decision was made, get on with it. Why is this a big deal?

I can't believe we have the Sonics logo on our blog. Hmm, kind of odd coming from two non sports people! As a side note, it is a nice logo isn't it? My office designed it.
There are a fair amount of people who either directly or on the fringe make a living off basketball downtown. Most of them are temp or minimum wage, so its the poor getting less. Not to mention parking lots, local bars and eateries that will take big hits from 41 home games plus pre season games vanishing. Also the"Read to Acheive" program and numerous player sanctioned charities that help the area with millions to mostly poor kids. And with the T-Birds moving to Kent that area will go to pot or crack.
That being said, I could give a rats rump myself. Of the 6 or 8 Sonics games I've been to I've never once paid for a ticket.
Howard Schultz is a total wad,and is only talking suit to save face.Schultz was opening the doors to 5 new stores a day when he sold the team. And the politicos are trying to save their jobs. Too little too late. And of course there's the dreaded perception that Seattle may not be a Big League town if the Sonics go.
And that may bruise the fragile egg-shell egos of the locals who think Hip Happenin' Seattle is a small provincial Big City that can't support an NBA team.
And it's funny that they couldn't raise the money from KEY bank or Star Bucks.
So to the Sonics I say, "Don't let the door hit ya,where the good Lord split ya"
