Night At The Track

We spent Friday night at the race track. No, not cars. Horses. But we weren't there for the horses, we were there for the 1/2 time show of wiener dog races.

They are hilarious how they run out of the gates from one owner on one side to the other owner at the finish line (or behind the gate, or in the bushes or just stop and lay down in the dirt). We love watching their little legs try to navigate the dirt, some are super speedy, and others are content to stop and smell the horse pies.

Here is some video.

A Night With The "M's!"

It never ceases to amaze me how “bloody boring” professional sporting venues are. Now I shouldn’t be complaining. At work, we are a major sponsor for the Mariners. With that, we get tickets, and other perks. Part of our sponsorship requires that at 12 games throughout the season, a table needs to be staffed to pass out UW Medicine paraphernalia. This table is strategically placed on the 100 level, right behind home plate. You have an amazing view of the entire game from your table. The volunteers that were slated to table Friday evening, bailed a few weeks ago. So our office had to fill the vacancy with bodies. These bodies were Holly and I.

Amazing views of the game, free parking in the covered parking garage. Was I satisfied? Not really. It was torture. First off the public could care less about information and brochures; they just want the free gift you are passing out. A few folks even mentioned, “This is boring,” after I mentioned I had information for UW Medicine and Harborview Medical Center. Too Funny!

We got some good people watching in, complete with sarcastic commentary, some non stop texting with a few coworkers who were also bored at other venues in the city. Even took a few pictures to document that we actually were at Safeco Field. Mariners of course were losing. Score was 0 to 3 when we left. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they won on the 11pm news that night. We bailed at the beginning of the 7th inning, as contractually the vendors can start taking down in the 7th. We were packed up in a matter of 45 seconds and out the door to get on with our evening.

Kidd Valley garlic fries…$6.00! Kidd Valley cheeseburger…$7.00! Aquafina 12oz bottled water…$4.25! A ginormous bag of kettle corn…a left kidney! Having to take out a second mortgage to afford the disgustingly overpriced sub par food at the game park, priceless! Who willingly does this?

Seattle Sounders Grid Lock

The debut of the new Seattle Sounders FC professional Soccer team yesterday brought the city to a halt. Let's just say that I was NOT a happy camper dealing with traffic congestion in downtown Seattle. It took me over an hour to go the two miles from my office to Holly's office to pick her up to head home. This is another reason why sports ruins EVERYTHING!

Batter Up!

We had the fun opportunity to step out of our comfort zones a little bit and go to a baseball game last night. It was Mariners vs Red Sox and the score was...who cares! We went with our friends who we'll call Josie and Stereotype who had 2 extra (free) tickets. Of course we had to feed our faces, since that's what you do at a baseball game, and as usual with such a "gourmet" meal, we all felt sick afterwards. I will admit though, the fries were pretty good.

We had fun recognizing our dissimilarities to those around us. One person in-particular caught my attention a person I spent almost the whole time trying to get a good shot of. Check out the putz.

When that got boring I attempting to make my own film. I deleted it once and had to re-create it...don't judge too harshly, I'm still trying to perfect it.

All in all, we had a great time and it was fun to do something different.

Go Away Sonics!

Who cares about the Sonics? Why is it such a heated controversy? Let them go to Oklahoma City, and let the rest of Seattle society get on with life. But no...let's churn and waste MORE tax payers money on this and drag it out forever in typical Seattle / King County political fashion. Decision was made, get on with it. Why is this a big deal?

Sports Ruins Everything!

Here we are, Bop and Beep at a recent sporting venue. Yes, I'm sure you all are wondering why sports? Why would "THOSE TWO" spend money on a sporting venue? Well, we often wonder the same thing. Was this venue to simply observe and cast judgement on everything? Or, was the purpose of the sporting venue to learn something? Of course it was to observe and cast judgement. It is a good thing the tickets were complimentary!
