All Decked Out

We had an excellent and pretty productive Thanksgiving weekend. We started it off Thursday enjoying an amazing meal with our friends Kelly and Steve. We have had Thanksgiving with them for the past 6 years swapping houses every other year. This was our off year so it was nice not worrying about making a turkey or cleaning the house, instead we helped with sides and dessert.

Dan making rolls.

Cranberry Salsa.

Sauerkraut Mashed Potatoes (plain potatoes were made for me!)

And of course Pie, with a fancy leaf border.

YUM!

I don't have any photos of the table, but Steve and Kelly did a beautiful job decorating for the festivities. They also made two really juicy and flavorful turkey breasts, gravy, stuffing, and a fun salad with Manchego cheese and pomegranates.

Friday we spent the day putting up the Christmas decorations. We thought it would only take an few hours, but we found out the lights on our trees were out so spent almost the whole day redoing them. It was not fun at the time, but it looks beautiful now.

We also went to the tree lighting at Westlake Center. We do NOT need to do that ever again. There were way too many people, and it was a serious let down since they fireworks never went off. Seeing the fireworks from our hotel room the past two years at the Marathon was way better than being in the crowd. Oh well, we had to say we've done it once in our lives.

And finally, we spent yesterday wrapping candies and packing up the boxes. And of course sampling them along the way to make sure they were still good :)

I love this time of year. I'm really excited for our new antique inspired bobbles, and incorporating some antiques into modern elements of our decorating this year.

There were so many people at the tree lighting ceremony, I could feel myself getting hot and my neck and ears turning red, due to being so irritated by the crowds and unorganized chaos. We both are in agreement that WE WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!

I'm with you, that cluster mess of people would send my holiday spirit right out the window.
