Jeanne's Fried Chicken

I remember this fried chicken recipe as a kid for summer BBQ's and family gatherings and LOVED it! Recently I've been pinging people via email for recipe swaps and exchanges. My aunt Jeanne [one of my Mom's younger sisters], sent this to me this morning. I think I'll make it this weekend. In her words, here is the recipe for HER fried chicken:
----------
Now here is the best way to cook fried chicken you will ever use and it is super easy!

1. Unthaw frozen chicken breasts, or use fresh chicken breast, thighs, wings your choice. Whatever. Cover in buttermilk and soak in fridge overnight.

2. Mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika (lots) in a baggie. Enough to cover meat.

3. Heat Crisco (MUST be Crisco) in a deep sided frying pan. Drain buttermilk off chicken and put in baggie and cover with flour mixture. Put in frying pan of hot Crisco (med-high to med heat) 9 minutes exactly on each side.

It will be the best fried chicken you have ever made!

Looks like our dinner guests this upcoming Sunday will be getting chicken for dinner. As Alton Brown's pet chicken would say..."Fry Some More...!"

This has nothing to do with this post, but tell me you actually own Bop & Beep dolls! I saw them at Top Ten Toys yesterday and thought of you two.

Yes Kristen, we do have a Bop & Beep doll. Bop gave it to me for Christmas one year, I thought it was hilarious!
