While traveling around in Austria, and spending the night in Dornbirn, we came across the local town children celebrating pumpkins at what we later found out was the annual pumpkin festival. Apparently Dornbirn Austria, is known for exporting pumpkin oil across the globe. It was fun to see the local church in the town square all decked out and offering a bake sale of homemade pumpkin goodies. The restaurants in town were also selling pumpkin features items. We had an amazing meal that evening. Spicy pumpkin soup and pumpkin risotto, among other things.

The local church selling home baked goodies and fresh pressed apple juice.

Lit child's pumpkin for the parade.

Pumpkins around the fountain for the judging contest.

More pumps.

Even more pumps...
This video shows parts of the parade and kids all having fun. It was an unexpected treat to run into this, the evening we were in Dornbirn.

This was definitely one of my highlights! I thought it was absolutely adorable watching the kids follow the brass band playing. I wished we could have followed them and waited to eat dinner after. I am also happy we were able to sample some local pumpkin fare at the restaurant.
