My spin on this tradition has been making orange and root beer suckers at Halloween time for our annual Autumn Open house. Holly's childhood tradition came in by having ghost suckers as well at Halloween. While we don't have trick-or-treaters much these days in our older neighborhood, it is fun to combine the tradition of making homemade suckers, and turning some of them into ghosts to give to kids or friend's kids. The holidays are a fun time of year for the both of us, as we incorporate our Craven, VanOrman, Sansom and Finlayson traditions with modernized spins on how Holly and I choose to execute these traditions.

Prepping my custom sucker / lollipop molds.

Starting the cook down of the sugar syrup, prior to flavoring and coloring.

Filling the molds with colored and flavored sugar syrup cooked to hard crack stage.

After a chill at room temp for a while, taking out the fresh batch of orange suckers.

A finished batch of orange.

Prepping the sugar syrup for the root beer suckers. Sugar syrup cooked, partially cooled and flavorings added.

A finished batch of root beet suckers to add to the mix.
