Dan Brown in Review

I just finished the current Dan Brown book The Lost Symbol. I have to say, I didn't really like it much. Not that I was expecting to love it, but I had some expectations. Of all his books I liked Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code best. That said, this current book is totally written for a movie, it lacks any real excitement or suspense and is fairly predictable.

I guess one thing I did like was learning a little more about the Masons, since I really didn't know much about them. Also of note the LDS faith was mentioned twice, just not in a good way.

Basically all I got out of it was a desire to get a tattoo and play Sudoku. Okay, maybe just play Sudoku.

Okay, I've never commented before but I have strong opinions about Dan Brown. Basically, anyone who ends a chapter with "and . . ." is not a good writer.

I couldn't agree more! I mostly read it out of desperation for anything better to read. And of course most of the time they are mildly entertaining.

Love that it gave you a desire to maybe get a tattoo and play Sudoku. hehe

I've only read one Dan Brown book (Da Vinci Code) and I tried to get in to Angels and Demons but couldn't really do it.

If you ever are looking for something to read, I have a whole stack of books that you can choose from.

Holly, I felt the same way with this last one. I have a compulsive problem with not being able to not finish a book--if I start it, I finish it; but this book I was tempted to stop reading it more than a few times. I found it a bit boring.

Angels and Demons is my favorite, too; and as always, the book is so much better than the movie.

Except...when The Lost Symbol is made into a movie, as you said it seemed it was written for, perhaps it will be better than the book! ;)
