Boston's Old North Church

The tour inside Boston's historic Old North Church was fun. I liked the Puritan Pew Boxes. Hundreds of years ago, you purchased a box and it was reserved for your family when you came to worship. Back then it was problematic to keep large buildings warmed adequately. So in bitter New England winters, you put heated rocks or bricks in your pew to keep warm. Look at how cute Holly is in her Religious Ice Cube Tray...!

I love this picture. Can you imagine how loud church would be if we did it this way? Back in the day, I'm sure the kids were threatened with a stick or something. But today, kid's would be chucking treats and toys into other people's boxes. It would be total craziness!!! At least we wouldn't have to worry about people saving seats (a chronic problem in Utah!)
