Vampires at BYU

Okay, I've been avoiding this book written by a BYU graduate called Twilight. All I knew was it was a book for adolescents about vampires. Well, since I like Harry Potter so much my hesitation wasn't that it was another book for teens, it was the doubt that a book about vampires could be interesting at all, and quite frankly that it was probably a church book. Well, I gave in the other day and bought it and was really liking it. I told my friend who has also read the book that I'd broken down and started reading it and she said "yeah, it was okay, and I don't usually like romances". Romances? I didn't once think of it as a romance, more of a chick book. So I like the book a little less now that it has that classification, but of course I'll keep reading it. At the very least, it's a wholesome romance.

Maybe I should read the book? Wait, I've never read Harry Potter, any of them. I'm sure this vampire book will be a movie before too long.

I think the movie is in production already. When we went to Forks last weekend, Twilight stuff was all over the place. Apparently it's quite the meca for Twilight fans. It made me laugh. But I have the book. I just haven't started reading it yet.

ugh- I gave in when the tenth or so person told me how great it was. I wish I hadn't. I kept reading hoping that it would get better. It didn't. I didn't read the other ones.
On a happier note, I love your cookie monster!

This is what I tell people about the Twilight series: I love the books because they are fun stories and suspenseful. If you are looking for great literary works, these are not for you. Pure entertainment. And I loved Harry Potter!
