Hattie's Hat = BEST Biscuits & Gravy

Holly and I, have wanted to try brunch at Hattie's Hat in historic Ballard for ages. We always drive by this place, but in the seven years we've lived in Ballard, we've never been patrons to this eatery. I'm finding that most of the seedy places in Seattle, really have the best Mom & Pop food options. This is true of Hattie's Hat. Extremely reasonable prices, in fact almost cheap prices. The quantity of food was more than ample. My brunch here kept me full all day. I just had a very small dinner that night. We went with friends, who both had burgers and they "looked" like they tasted pretty good. My biscuits and gravy was to die for. Not super-thick cream gravy. But a white wine based gravy with some cream in it. Much better palette wise. House made hash browns from REAL potatoes, eggs and bacon rounded out my meal. Holly had some good from scratch pancakes. End result, we'll definitely be going back to this place again for brunch. Even with the slow service, and obnoxious roller girls sitting next to us, talking so loud, I could barely hear myself think, it was a great place to eat.

I love Hattie's. It has an amazing bar. I mean the woodwork. It's very old and the craftsmanship is old world all the way. I believe it was actually shipped to Seattle around the Horn. The grub is good stuff. Back in my drinkin' days Hattie's was known as the home of the Pink Bloody Mary. Meaning they put so much vodka in the drink that it rendered the tomato juice pink. Breakfast there is a good time. You can sit and play "Spot the Hangovers" Some fun, Kidz.
