Chihuly Paintings

At my employer, I really feel fortunate that these two world class medical centers are making a concentrated effort to showcase beautiful art throughout the halls and public spaces. Art can be extremely soothing, and can help lessen the level of stress, when most people in a hospital environment are high stressed or have high emotions due to a loved one undergoing something health crisis related.

This is a recent procurement and unveiling of Dale Chihuly. He donated five panels that are hanging above a grand circular staircase up at UW Medical Center. The colors in this are amazing, and it's a nice contrast to the overly clinical white walls often associated with hospital space.

That panel is wonderful. I've seen Ol' One Eye Dale just squirt paint out of a bottle all willy nilly and make great looking art, and if I tried the same thing it would look like a sloppy third grader did it. I've always admired anyone with a talent for visual arts.
